The Living Nativity
A re-enactment of the Nativity with live animals, little angels, shepherds, and choristers.

We are in our 15th year, and the outdoor pageant is ever evolving. We have approximately 120 young people who have donated their time to present this gift to the community. Students from local high schools to nursery schools have united as pageant participants.
In addition to this, community members have offered their animals including goats and llamas to add their beauty to the nativity scene.
The music is both choral and instrumental. Its beauty and variety reflect the hard work and talent of the young people who provide it. We have full singing choirs, an accomplished bell choir, and others who provide musical accompaniment.
Our traffic directors come in large part from experienced Jr. fire fighters who volunteer in our community. In past years we have had as many as 1700 in attendance for the event, and these young men have done a terrific job managing the vehicles.
The pageant takes place at Lourdes which is located on Rte. 118 just before the green in Litchfield. The Event is on Sunday, December 11th with two live presentations. The first is at 3:00 pm and the second at 4:00 pm. The event is free to the public and includes hot chocolate and cookies (**goodwill offerings are gratefully accepted to help defray costs).
Most importantly the Living Nativity offers everyone a chance to stop in the craze of Christmas 'preparation' and reflect on the awesome reason for this celebration.
