Seherr-Thoss Foundation Grants for November 2011
The Seherr-Thoss Foundations were created for the purpose of supporting non-profit organizations which directly benefit the citizens of Litchfield and the immediate surrounding areas, ie. Bantam, Milton, and Northfield,Ct.. The Charitable Trust, which is restricted to funding for non-religious entities and the Foundation Trust, which is not restricted, comprise the Seherr-Thoss Foundations. Grants awarded for November 2011 are solely from the Foundation Trust.
Recipients:
The Litchfield Housing Authority: $20,000 to replace outdated refrigerators and electric ranges at the Wells Run and Bantam Falls senior housing facilities.
Friends of Hospice, Inc.: $2,000 to fund fall, winter, holiday and spring bereavement groups and provide massage therapy visits for bed-bound Hospice patients.
The Oliver Wolcott Library, Inc.: $20,000 to expand and replace current obsolete technology infrastructure--computers, file server, mobile devices, security cables.
St. Michael's Parish: $5,000 to enable a Water Infiltration Investigation by Hoffman Architects, to determine funds needed to prevent further water infiltration and insure a water-tight condition for the Sanctuary.

The Foundations announce the recipients of the May 2011 grants. The Seherr-Thoss Foundations were created for the purpose of supporting nonprofit organizations which directly benefit the citizens of the Litchfield area. The Charitable Trust, which is restricted to funding for non-religious entities, and the Foundation Trust, which is not restricted, comprise the Foundations.
American Legion Morgan Post 27: $12,600.00 to support new heating oil and hot water system
The Litchfield Fire Company Inc.: $17,400.00 to upgrade Hurst extrication tool
Litchfield Housing Authority: $30,813.00 to replace carpeting in all common areas
Litchfield Public Schools: $40,740.00 to purchase new pre-school/kindergarten playground equipment
Litchfield Public Schools: $9,000.00 for Connecticut Junior Republic swimming pool rental
Daughters of Wisdom, Inc.: $10,000.00 to implement energy upgrades
Friendship Baptist Church: $17,500.00 to purchase two new heating system boilers
Joyful Noise, Inc.: $5,000.00 to fund a Walk-a-thon, 2 concerts & a question & answer session
Montfort Missionaries: $15,000.00 to fund masonry repairs to parking lot/Grotto and lamp lighting for the Grotto
St. Michael's Church: $20,000.00 to fund driveway and parking lot paving and repairs
Susan B. Anthony Project: $20,000.00 to fund crisis and support services and prevention/education programs

The Seherr-Thoss Foundations announce the recipients of their Fall 2010 grants. The Foundations were created for the purpose of supporting non-profit organizations which directly benefit the citizens of the Town of Litchfield. The Charitable Trust (which is restricted to funding for non-religious entities) and a Foundation (which is not restricted) comprise the Foundations.
Litchfield Montessori: $57,000 to support the replacement and greening of the school roof
Charlotte Hungerford Hospital: $50,000 for the Image Guided Radiation Therapy Linear Accelerator at the Hospital's Center for Cancer Care
Litchfield High School Envirothon Program: $1,250 to fund a speaker on the importance of native plant landscaping to be offered to students and the community
Litchfield High School Robotics and Intermediate School Lego League: $2,700 to fund transportation and attendance expenses for state competitions
Litchfield High School Athletic Department: $2,500. to purchase customized, padded Spirit event chairs for the sports teams for home competitions
Tyler-Seward-Kubish Post 44, American Legion: $17,000 to partially fund the refurbishment of the All Wars Memorial
Friends of Hospice: $1,900 to fund holiday, winter and spring bereavement group sessions at the Litchfield Community Center
Town of Litchfield, Bantam River Jamb Project: $ 25,000 to replace the jambs which control the depth of Bantam Lake
