Seherr-Thoss Foundation and Charitable Trust
The Seherr-Thoss Foundation is a private, grant making foundation established
by Sonia P. Seherr-Thoss and her husband, Hans C. Seherr-Thoss.  

Their involvement in many charitable and cultural institutions in Litchfield
 led them to create and fund both the Seherr-Thoss Foundation
and the Seherr-Thoss Charitable Trust for the support
of Litchfield community interests and institutions.

The Seherr-Thoss Foundations consider applications from not for profit organizations
 to fund projects that directly serve the people and community of Litchfield.

to replace air handler for the main areas of the library

Susan B. Anthony Project - $23,000
to replace security and phone systems at the counseling
and advocacy center on Water Street in Torrington

St. Michael's Parish - $125,000,00
to complete a matching grant
for the restoration of the church

Friends of the Litchfield Community Greenway - $48,000.00
to complete a substantial portion of the
third phase of the Greenway project

for the ponds, and a utility vehicle.

OLIVER WOLCOTT LIBRARY
$82,283.00 to replace flooring in the community
 room and replace carpeting in the main library.

ST MICHAELS EPISCOPAL CHURCH
$125,000.00, a matching grant to address water
infiltration problems in the roof and stonework.

to purchase a boat used  primarily  for  juniors

to make the Community  House at Wells Run more energy-efficient
by installing a new propane furnace and water heater
 that will be accessible year-round through a new insulated exterior door

Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy  -  $24,200
to renovate the office and intern housing

Oliver Wolcott Library  -  $82,608
to resurface the parking lot

 Prime Time House  -  $ 9,000  
towards the purchase of a low mileage minivan
to replace the 2000 minivan with 150,000 miles

Sandy Beach Commission  -  $50,000
for improvements to the changing rooms,
bathrooms and concession stand at Sandy Beach
as designed by a Ct. licensed architect.

to provide a unique playloft in the
parent-cooperative preschool classroom

The foundation and charitable trust were created to support
non-profit organizations benefiting the Litchfield area.

complete a technology infrastructure plan.

for monument restoration in the Old Town cemetery.

to purchase new stoves and refrigerators for Bantam Falls.

Little Britches Therapeutic Riding: $4,500
to support riders with disabilities at Lee's Riding Stable.

Trinity Episcopal Church: $15,000
to secure partial matching funds for the
 restoration of an 1823 Thomas Hall organ.
